Prayer Walk

4th Thursday of the month - weather permitting!  Join us as we walk through the community of Etna, knocking on doors and offering to pray for any needs.  Our prayer team meets at the church at 6:00, and are out for anywhere from 1/2 an hour to two hours.  The following Sunday we lift up in our worship service our prayers for the people we have met.  We pray for people by name.

January Prayer Partner

Etna Express is our January prayer partner. This convenience store is conveniently located on Butler St. in Etna and is a great place to pick up a gallon of milk or a cup of coffee or a snack. Pray for this local business, for its employees and its patrons!

February Prayer Partner

Benvon Dance Studio, on Butler St. in Etna, offers a variety of classes to aspiring artists. This month we pray for the continued success of this business, for the teachers who work with young people, and for the children and families served by this dance studio.

March Prayer Partner

Salon Solo is located on the East End of Etna, near the Blarney Stone, just as you head up Mt. Royal Blvd. Salon Solo is a beauty shop that provides a needed service in the community. This month we pray for the employees, and for the clients of this business, which contributes to the well being of our community.

April Prayer Partner

Jackson Hewitt Tax Agency, located on Butler Street in Etna, is an appropriate partner for us to lift up in prayer in April. Not only is their schedule hectic this month, they provide much needed service and reassurance for people whose anxiety increases as April 15th nears. We remember the employees and clients of this company.

May Prayer Partner

Pizza! Loved by almost everyone and perfect for those evenings when you don't have time to cook or just want to have a relaxed evening with friends. Our local pizza parlor, D'Amato's, is our prayer partner for this month. Pray for the cooks that their food be prepared with love and care, for the clients, that they be nourished by this food, and the community, that this business continue to thrive and provide a desired service.

June Prayer Partner

DiPofi School of Boxing and Personal Training is located on Butler Street in Etna. This recently established business works with people on fitness and nutrition. Pray for the health and the strength and the diet of the clients of DiPofi, and pray for the success of this new venture.

July Prayer Partner

Hong Kong Taste offers Chinese eat-in and take-out food. Sample some of the delicious and convenient food offered by this restaurant, located right on Butler St. in Etna. Pray for the customers and the people who serve up a great meal.

August Prayer Partner Ranalli's Barber Shop Located right at 374 Butler St. Bad hair day? We all appreciate the people who make us look good. This month we pray for the people at the Barber Shop.

100th Anniversary on the Corner that Cares!

On Saturday, November 21st we celebrated Calvert's 100th year on Locust St. in Etna.  We began with a program in the sanctuary that celebrated the ways God has been at work in this community.  Three former pastors identified the great heart of this congregation.  There was a brief slide show lof life at Calvert today, and a worship service, followed by a dessert reception.

The Community of Etna and Pittsburgh Regional Partnership

Calvert is proud of our partnership with other churches in our community.  We jointly sponsor the Drama of the Cross on Good Friday, a community-wide Thanksgiving celebration, and joint outreach to youth.

We also have established a partnership with a number of Presbyterian congregations in the northern region of Pittsburgh.  We work side by side to enable the ministry of this congregation, and to provide a place where there is tremendous opportunity for people to feed the hungry, teach the children and share the light of God.
